Tales March 2009

The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you
Don't go back to sleep.
You must ask for what you really want.
Don't go back to sleep.
People are going back and forth across the doorsill
where the two worlds touch.
The door is round and open.
Don't go back to sleep."
--Rumi as translated by John Moyne and Coleman Barks

Winter can be a time of going within and basically sleeping until the weather turns warmer.  But Tinmouth has a long history of sticking together through the long, cold, dark months, and of coming out for community activities.  So, we offer many thanks to everyone who came out on a cold Saturday morning to support the Tinmouth Community Church’s Valentine’s breakfast.  This was such a great opportunity to feel connected with one another; a delicious time was had by all.  It is wonderful to feel the support of this community.  Thank you.

Some new things are happening within the church these days thanks to many willing and skilled hands.  The ground floor meeting room is being totally renovated, getting rid of the old dark paneling and the damp insulation behind it and replacing them with fresh new insulation and brand new walls  The space is wonderfully warm and bright, a welcoming place.  Please come and take a look!

The changes inside the church reflect in some ways the coming of Spring on the outside.  Lately the birds have changed to their Spring songs, and there is far more light each day than there was a brief month ago.  Even through the cold crispness, there is a new scent in the air of things coming alive.  It won’t be long before we are working in our gardens.  Possibility is in the air!  Don’t go back to sleep!

Blessings, Shirley Oskamp, Pastor
